TAGMOA – The Middle East & Africa Franchise & Trademark Association Participates in the Regional Forum on Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship in Cairo

Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt | October 2025

The Middle East & Africa Franchise & Trademark Association (TAGMOA) proudly participated in the Regional Joint Forum on Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship for Arab and Asian Countries, which commenced today in Cairo and will continue tomorrow, gathering distinguished leaders, experts, and creative women entrepreneurs from across the Arab and Asian regions.

The forum is organized by the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority, headed by Dr. Hesham Azmy, in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the National Council for Women, chaired by Counselor Amal Ammar, with the support of the Japan Patent Office.
It aims to explore ways to economically empower creative women through intellectual property rights, while strengthening regional cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship.

📍 The first day featured rich discussions from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., marked by professional organization and wide international participation from:
United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Kingdom of Bahrain, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Pakistan, Kingdom of Morocco, Sultanate of Oman, Tunisia, China, Iraq, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Djibouti.

During his keynote address, Dr. Hesham Azmy emphasized that the economic empowerment of women through intellectual property is a national and developmental necessity, highlighting the importance of cooperation among national, regional, and international institutions to create a sustainable innovation ecosystem.

In a special intervention, Dr. Moataz Salah El-Din, Chairman of the Arab Women Media Network, stressed that protecting intellectual property rights is crucial for all entrepreneurs, particularly women, noting that only 60% of women globally register their projects to protect their creative works and business ideas.
He called for greater regional support to encourage Arab women entrepreneurs to safeguard their intellectual assets, commended the National Council for Women for its impactful community awareness initiatives, and proposed establishing a dedicated hotline for intellectual property services.

For its part, TAGMOA affirmed that its participation reflects its strategic vision to promote the creative economy and empower women in franchising and entrepreneurship, while enhancing the presence of the Arab region, led by the United Arab Emirates, in the regional landscape of innovation and intellectual property.
TAGMOA also underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration between Arab and Asian nations to exchange expertise and build sustainable platforms that foster innovation and inclusive economic growth.

At the conclusion of the first day’s sessions, participants expressed appreciation for the efforts of WIPO and the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority in advancing women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.
They reiterated that protecting creative ideas and innovations is the true foundation for a fairer and more prosperous future.
